More Party Pictures

My previous blog posted before I was ready, so there was a mistake at the very end. But, oh well, I'll just take this opportunity to do another post and include more pictures. You know the Pressley's, five pictures are never enough, especially after a fun birthday party!

Skating--Anyone?

Will and Abby's skating party was a success! It was at "Skate Country" in Buford, and quite a few of their friends showed up, despite the weather. We had pouring rain last night, and still have had a lot today. This is the 2nd year Abby has had weather issues on the day of her party! Last year, there were tornado warnings all around, and her party guests had to stay sequestered in a small room at the Gainesville Children's Museum until the tornado passed by. Thank goodness, it wasn't that bad this year!
After the kids ( and even an aunt, uncle, and one Pappa ) finished skating, there was pizza, cupcakes, and doughnuts for everyone. Will had requested the doughnut cake(pyrimid) and Abby wanted cupcakes, so their sweet Mommy did both!
Then, after all the guests departed, the family resumed the pary at Famous Joe's at Hamilton Mill. It was really loud, but so much fun. There were 17 of us for dinner. Granny even survived all the noise and wildness! But, that was not all. We then went to Beth and David's house to watch The Birthday boy and girl open their presents. Oh, such excitement! Everyone had fun, plenty

Happy Birthday, WILL!

Yesterday was the 8th birthday of our very first precious grandchild, Will. I just can't believe how much he's grown up! This picture is the very first glimpse of Will that we ever had. It was taken while he was still in China, and was sent to Beth and David along with the "referral" papers, telling all about the baby that had been chosen for them to adopt.

That night, March 4, 2002, we had met Beth and David at Provino's Italian Restuarant to celebrate my birthday, before leaving the next day to fly to Maui. As you can imagine, seeing that precious little face, made that birthday the most memorable one ever! We were soooo excited. We took that picture with us to Hawaii and looked at it constantly. Knowing that it wouldn't be long before we would see him "in person" was such a wonderful realization.

Will has been such a joy! He was the first granchild on both sides of the family, so he has been spoiled just a little, but is so sweet and smart. Tomorrow, Will and his sister, Abby, will have a combined Birthday party at a skating rink with their friends, and then the family will go out to dinner together. Happy Birthday, Will! We love you!

Soccer and Touch-A-Truck

It was soooo beautiful here today! The winter has been great and we especially enjoyed the pretty snow a few short weeks ago, but now it's wonderful to see signs of Spring! Soccer season has begun again, so we were able to go to Evan's first game of the season. It is just so darn cute to watch those little 4 year old out there on the field. Most of the time they have to be reminded which way they are supposed to run, but they really get into it. I don't think Evan is quiet as aggressive with the ball as his Daddy would like for him to be, but he hangs in there. Pressley, of course, loves to cheer him on--that is, until she decides she's seen enough, and wants to go to the playground!

After the game, we rode over to Decatur High School and saw all kinds of trucks on display. They call it " Touch-A-Truck". They had police cars, police motorcycles, firetrucks, garbage trucks, cement trucks, backhoes, etc, etc. The kids had a chance to "drive" the trucks, blow the sirens, and climb into the real firetrucks. They loved it!

The Outside Painting is Done!

After two-and-a-half weeks, our outside painting is done! It has really been a great experience, though. Ten years ago, when we last had it done, the painters had Reggae music blairing, and everything just seemed so much more hectic. They were constantly coming in and out of the house! But this time, it was calm and peaceful. Whenever I needed to get my car out of the garage, they were more than happy to move ladders, etc. Let me just say, I would highly recommend these guys! And we are really pleased with the colors we chose. Of course, the colors are Benjamin Moore--that's all we ever use anymore. We went with taupe, white, and a chocolate brown.

Those of you who receive an e-mail when I post a blog, may want to see the actual blog itself. You can go to http://nancypressley.blogspot.com---Then, you can bookmark it, if you'd like.

Happy Birthday, ABBY!

Just a quick blog to wish our " Birthday Girl " a Happy Birthday today. It seems like yesterday, when we first met her at the airport. She was precious, even then, but had such sad little eyes. What a difference now! She is such a little BLESSING- so happy, and smiles all the time. We love you, Abby!

In Spite of the Rain

This has been a very wet weekend! But, in spite of that, it's been a great one. Our friends, Russ and Susie, came Friday and spent the weekend with us. They're the same friends that toured the Amish country with us in December. You know, there are just some people you love being with, and never tire of. Well, that's the way we feel about them.

On Friday, we took in the King Tut exhibit. It was so interesting, yet rather sad, to see how the ancient Egyptians believed that they could be secure and enjoy the afterlife if they buried enough of their possessions with them. We saw so many artifacts that were incredibly made thousands of years ago!

Then, on Saturday, we visited the Terracotta Soldiers' exhibit at the High Museum. I enjoyed both, but was totally fascinated by this one! There were approximately 7,000 clay soldiers that were built out of clay by more than 1,000 men. They were created to guard the tomb of the First Emperor of China. The exhibit has 15-20 of those soldiers on display, and it is so incredible to view the detail that is in the faces and clothing of each one! There were quit a few clay horses on display also.
For the evening, we had tickets for the Linda Eder concert. We had a nice dinner on the Square in Marietta, then went over to the Cobb Civic Center. The Linda Eder show was excellent. She has a beautiful, pure voice, and did selections from Broadway shows and Musicals, as well as some Judy Garland pieces.

Today, we went to worship at Briarlake, and then out to lunch with Amy, Corin, and the kids. In all, it was one of those memorable weekends we will all cherish.

This is only the Beginning!

I always wished for others in my family to have a Birthday in March. For so long, I was the only one--but now, I have a son-in-law and two grandchildren to share my Birthday month with. Mine is the 4th, Corin's is the 8th, Abby's is the 18th and Will's is the 25th. So, today is the first of several Birthday celebrations in March for our family. The location today was California Dreaming Resturant. There were 10 of us and we had a great time! As always, the cousins enjoyed seeing each other, and had a blast together! What a blessing they all are!

Winter Wonderland in Tucker

It has been soooo beautiful here today! This morning, it was just rain. Then, some snow gradually was mixed with the rain. Then, around noon, the beautiful, big clumps of snow started falling. I've been a bit under the weather, so I didn't dare get out in it, but it has been so exciting to watch! Around mid-afternoon, we had at least three to four inches. I understand that our grandchildren have had a ball in it. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to take pictures of the winter wonderland all around us. So, I took what I could from inside the house, and Ralph took the others outside when he got home from church. We had already covered the fountain up, next to the patio, so if you wonder what the funny looking tree is in the backyard, it is our hidden fountain.
